Join us for the second E of I session of 2026 tonight!

Tonight 1/26/2026 from 6-8 pm cst we’re joined by Dr. David Stovall. More about Dr. Stovall below.

Dr. Stovall’s Bio:

David Stovall, Ph.D., is a professor in the departments of Black Studies and Criminology, Law & Justice at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). His scholarship investigates three areas: 1) Critical Race Theory, 2) the relationship between housing and education, and 3) the intersection of race, place, and school. In the attempt to bring theory to action, he works with community organizations and schools to address issues of equity, justice, and the abolition of the school/prison nexus. His work led him to join the design team for the Greater Lawndale/Little Village School for Social Justice (SOJO), which opened in the Fall of 2005. Furthering his work with communities, students, and teachers, his work manifests itself in his involvement with The People's Education Movement, a collection of classroom teachers, community members, students, and university professors in Chicago, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area who engage in collaborative community projects centered on creating relevant curriculum. In addition to his duties and responsibilities as a professor at UIC, he also served as a volunteer social studies teacher at the Greater Lawndale/Little Village School for Social Justice from 2005 to 2018.

Join us for any and all E of I sessions this semester!

As a friendly reminder, the course theme is Community Resistance for Public Health Regeneration. This theme is inspired by mycelium networks in nature and by the community networks that many folks are creating to share resources and keep each other safe in these times.

The course will meet Mondays from 6-8 pm CST between January 12, 2026, and April 27, 2026, via Zoom. You do not need to attend all sessions to participate in the course as a community member. We strongly encourage folks to attend which ever sessions interest them or work for their schedule.
